DAY 591
Matthew Wilder - Break My Stride
From "I Don't Speak the Language"

'Who is Matthew Wilder?' might seem like the question to a difficult Jeopardy answer, but you might have heard some of his work without even knowing it.
Some might be familiar with this song because of a fad that started on YTMND.com.
I'm old enough to remember when it came out. It was nearly unavoidable on the radio. We had a 45 single of the song, and I just about wore it out. It's catchy, fun and it WILL get stuck in your head.
Haven't heard 'Break My Stride'? Well, maybe you've heard some of the songs from No Doubt's 'Tragic Kingdom' album. Matthew Wilder produced the album for No Doubt, and I was recently thinking about how much it shows. Listen to 'Break My Stride' and then listen to 'Spiderwebs' or 'Just a Girl'. Sure, the songs feature different performers from very different eras, but it just seems to make sense when you hear that there's a connection.
Apparently, he also has some other notable credits to his name that I was unaware of until this evening. He has worked with Christina Aguilera, and Kelly Clarkston, and he was nominated for an Academy Award for Original Music Score (along with David Zippel and Jerry Goldsmith) for his contributions to Disney's 'Mulan'.
Not bad for a guy that's probably best known as a 'One Hit Wonder'.

I saw this guy perform this song at Disneyland once. It had been raining all day and there were maybe nine people in the audience.
It was pretty sad.
That WOULD be sad. Maybe they made it up to him by having him work on music portions of Mulan. :)
Thanks for the comment, Max!
