Day 295 - Lenny Kravitz - Heaven Help

Give me Lenny's first four albums over the rest of his output ANY day. I particularly enjoy "Are You Gonna Go My Way" and "Circus". "5" may have been the start of his biggest success because of "Fly Away", but I also see it as the beginning of a series of albums that just can't live up to how good those initial albums were. I ALSO felt ripped off when I bought "5", only to have the album re-released a few months later with two bonus tracks. I have not bought a Lenny Kravitz album since then.

I've HEARD the newer material mind you, and there are some good songs here and there. It just seems like the gems of his albums have been outnumbered by the tracks that serve as filler.

THIS song is TREMENDOUS. I distinctly remember having a cassette walkman in the early 90's, and I went on a walk, wishing I had brought "Are You Gonna Go My Way" with me so I could hear "Heaven Help". Then I walked into a McDonalds, and to my astonished ears, "Heaven Help" started playing on the overhead speakers. It was weird timing. What is even more strange, is that I haven't heard the song on the radio or played in public since then.
